Imkerhof Christian School
There has been a Kindergarten for orphans and children from surrounding farms at Imkerhof since its inception in 2002 and Pre-school was later added. Latterly, ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) material has been used for teaching the children English. Children at Imkerhof are introduced by social workers and come from different areas of Namibia and all ethnic backgrounds (Ovambo, Herero, Kavango, San Bushman, Damara, etc.) each speaking his own language. Many of the children also speak Afrikaans and they all have a reasonable command of spoken English, the official language. All subjects are taught through the medium of English
Classroom
The ACE school at Imkerhof is now in its second year. The children are progressing well and are happy with their new school. There are 9 children in the nursery class run by Miss Shilongo and helped by Magdelene. Mrs Uatheua takes the 3 children in the pre-school class. The 21 primary school children are split into 2 classes, Mr Uatheua supervising the younger ones while Mrs. Wahl supervises the older children. During the summer, the children enjoyed sport 3 times a week alternating between swimming, tennis and soccer. When the weather was wet, the children enjoyed basket-ball in the hall. Thanks to a container arriving from Pforzheim in Germany, the children are enjoying using a lot of excellent sports equipment including bikes.
